The Altyn Uya story
This is the story of a home where a child feels safe, sits down to eat, does their homework and prepares for tomorrow.

The Altyn Uya story
In Kyrgyz, altyn is not only the name of a metal — it describes what is held precious. Altyn bala — a precious child. Altyn söz — a precious word.
Uya is the nest where a bird raises its young, shelters and feeds them, and prepares them to fly.
Altyn Uya — the Golden Nest. Our name was not chosen at random — it describes the work.
A house can be built: beds put in, tables arranged, a kitchen fitted out. What makes it a home is that the person living there feels safe, valued and like they belong.
If a child does not feel like a guest at the table; if they know someone is nearby while they study in the evening; if they are certain someone will care for them when they fall ill; if there is a door of their own to open on the way back from school — then it is no longer just a building.

About us
Who we are
Our work has two strands: we run a home where children live every day, and we reach families in need across the country.
The Novopokrovka Care Home. Novopokrovka village, Issyk-Ata District, Chuy Region. Children live here full time: three meals a day, health checks, school transport, supervised evening study, English lessons and computer literacy.
Social support nationwide. From Bishkek to the most remote villages: school supplies, food, winter coal and clothing, medical costs, clean-water wells. We never assess need alone — the local administration, the school and the foundation's field commission work together.
Our Mission
What we do
We work in six main areas. Each is a permanent, year-round programme — not a seasonal campaign.
Care Home — the residential campus in Novopokrovka: housing, meals, health care, supervised evening study.
Education — school kits, uniforms, student sponsorship, language and computer courses.
Clean Water — drilling deep wells in villages with no mains supply.
Health — an emergency fund for surgery and long-term treatment (supported through General Donation).
Winter — coal, winter clothing, boots, stove repairs.
Bereke Food Box (bereke = abundance) — flour, oil, rice and tea: a basic food parcel.
Our Vision
What we are aiming for
To be a trusted, sustainable and exemplary institution in child protection, education and transparent accountability in Kyrgyzstan and Central Asia.
A vision is not a dream but a measurable direction. So we have broken it into three concrete conditions, and our annual report, which we plan to publish on this site (available on request until then), will state where we stand on all three:
Trust. An institution that can show where every som went without being asked: an annual report (publication planned, available on request), open accounts and documented field work.
Sustainability. A funding model that does not depend on a single seasonal campaign and can carry a child's education for years.
A model that travels. The Novopokrovka experience, repeatable in other regions and across Central Asia.
Becoming "the largest foundation" is not our ambition. For us, growth means growing trust, not numbers.
Support for today, a home for tomorrow
A child's needs do not follow a campaign calendar
At Altyn Uya we work with the child at the centre. Since we began, every difficulty in the field has pushed us to take on more responsibility, document more carefully and work more openly. Every gift is held in trust — and we account for it before anyone has to ask.
Become a volunteer
Would you like to volunteer with us?
Every step of this work — from the campus in Novopokrovka to villages far beyond Bishkek — needs volunteers: a teacher for evening study, a team to set up stands on fair day, someone to translate a field report into Russian, an engineer to review a well survey.
The work in Kyrgyzstan is run by Kyrgyzstanis; partners support, they do not replace. You can be part of that solidarity too.
